Brian Street, Senior Technician at BenchMagic Electronic Services Inc required NKK switch caps laser engraved and black paint filled for the control panel he is building for BC Ferries.
First of all, it was a time bound and high quality controlled project. Because each cap is only 21mm x 15mm in size, made of 1/16″ thick polycarbonate. Almost all caps have different identification markings on them. Even some caps have 4 lines to laser etch – like “Rad steer Pump #1A/B”. Due to very small size of the caps, letter size for engraving had to be reduced to fit all 4 lines on each cap. Most of all we have to make sure that letters like A, P, R should not be completely filled with paint. After some R&D, testing and approved by Brian, the switch caps laser engraved successfully. After laser engraving we filled the engraved letters with a solvent based black paint. Delivered this job before deadline. Even a group of caps which were not ordered before, we were able to do in short span of 1 day.
He commented in his email later “Turned out very well! Thanks for all the rush work and the personal delivery. It made the work progress that much easier!”. Good job Brian.
